About Suzanne Rosoff

Suzanne Gould Marks Rosoff was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on February 6, 1933 and grew up in the Squirrel Hill section of Pittsburgh. At age 19 she married at the Tree of Life Synagogue. She had two children at age 21 and 23; in spite of being a young mother she found time to follow her heart's passion of adding her voice to counter the injustices of the world. She took her very young children and together they marched for civil rights and joined in singing "we shall overcome" in the Baptist Churches. Later she marched for women's rights in Washington, D.C., with Gloria Steinem as the leader.

As her children grew, her love of music became an important part of her life. She entertained around the tri-state area of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Virginia. Later she took a job at WQED-TV, home of the Mr. Rogers' show. She became Associate Producer of two Award Winning Docu-Dramas called "The Turned-on Crisis" and the "Family Game." Together with an engineer at the station, she started an Explorer Scout Troop of boys and girls, black and white, all ages. They did not turn anyone down who wanted to learn new ways of living peacefully together and learning skills that they would use later in life.

After her divorce, she moved to Washington, D.C., where her love of music led her to join the Liz Lerman "Dancers of the Third Age." They performed at the Dance Place, Wolf Trap, and Kennedy Center. Again, because she wanted to support people to be healthy, while she was living in the Boston area, she started a business called Macro Mama. She developed recipes for Tofu Egg Salad and Tempeh Salad. When she moved to Miami, she opened a restaurant called Suzanne's Vegetarian Restaurant.

Her other careers included B & B's in the Berkshires and Boston, teaching ballroom dancing on many cruise lines around the world, and acting in The Reader's Theatre in Asheville, NC. She was a guest commentator and wrote many published Letters to the Editor in Asheville. Therefore, Choose Life is her first published book. She hopes you find it another new experience in your life.

June is Busting Out all Over

By |2021-06-02T16:07:28-04:00May 31st, 2021|

Well, does it seem like a year to you that I have been blogging?  I started last May of 2020 and here it is the 31st of May 2021.  And it is Memorial Day.   I have written about my personal life and the historic Events of the Day.  When I find an Agent, the blogs will be put into a book whose title will be “Blogging through a year of cancer, impeachment, Covid-19 pandemic and the Inauguration of a new President”.  It will be a history of this past tumultuous year.

As far as my Hodgkins disease, the recent PET test […]

Spring is Bustin’ Out All Over

By |2021-05-05T05:46:21-04:00May 5th, 2021|

It is almost a year since I started writing my blog, “Blogging through a year of cancer, impeachment, pandemic and the Inauguration.”  I would sit down and the words would flow through my fingers onto the Computer as I wrote about all these events as they were happening.  What a year we have lived through!  We have shared these events and have survived.  Hopefully, with grace and optimism.

Last week, I had my last infusion.  It took me about a week to feel like “myself” again, but now here I am.   I am scheduled, at the end of May, to have […]

Soon, it’s gonna end (based on The Fantasticks show tune “Soon it’s gonna rain”)

By |2021-04-08T13:08:54-04:00April 8th, 2021|

Today was my next to last infusion and “soon it’s gonna end”.  One more to go.   I have finally decided that I am a strong woman and work through these treatments using the old adage “putting one foot in front of the other”.  I know we have to drive down to Boca to the Treatment Center and now I know the routine; how to check in, change my mask for a new one, check in to another “check in” desk, then have my blood pressure taken (always a little bit higher from the stress of what’s to come).  A nurse […]

Ooo La La

By |2021-03-19T14:49:27-04:00March 19th, 2021|

Last week I took my PET test and on Friday I met with the doctor.  He was elated, as was I, when he reported test showed a 75% healing of the tumors with no new ones appearing.  And he wants to continue three more infusions (which I call invasions) to clear up the last 25%.  So I agreed to take three more infusions, plus the shots that follow each treatment, to make sure I have enough white blood cells.

So on Monday I had my 4th treatment with two more to go.  The first few days after the treatment I am […]

Happy V Day

By |2021-02-16T15:57:30-05:00February 14th, 2021|

Happy V Day could stand for Valentine’s Day or Victory. Today is Valentine’s Day 2021 and there is love everywhere. I have it in my heart for Melinda and Paul and my friends and family.

Suzanne's birthday cakeDid I tell you I celebrated my 88th Birthday last Saturday, the 6th of February? For several days my home was filled with bouquets of flowers and balloons and Birthday cards. In fact, I am still enjoying them. The one that says “I Love You” fits in perfectly today, Valentine’s Day. Melinda organized a Zoom Birthday […]

Happy Days Are Here Again!

By |2021-02-01T15:58:16-05:00February 1st, 2021|

After my initial infusion and a few days of discomfort, I am feeling fine again, so I want to blog about the Inauguration.

We had all anticipated some kind of distraction and destruction at the Inauguration of Joseph Biden and Kamala Harris.  Thankfully, we couldn’t have been more wrong.  It turned out to be a beautiful day, an historic day and a colorful day.  The women who were the main characters of the day all wore clothes of solid colors. We were awash in hues of purple, turquoise, cranberry, powder blue.  The singers, Lady Gaga and Beyonce and Katie Perry (sang […]

The Big Day

By |2021-01-21T13:40:03-05:00January 18th, 2021|

Now does this title refer to my first Chemotherapy session or to Inauguration Day or to the Super Bowl? These three Events are all part  of my life.  Some more meaningful than the others or, at least, more personal.  One happened January 11, 2021; my first Chemo session.   The next, which is the Inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, will happen this week on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 and the Super Bowl will be played early in February, 2021.

So let’s take the first activity.  I was strangely calm as Paul drove me down to Boca for my first treatment. […]

Let there be light

By |2021-01-21T13:32:49-05:00January 11th, 2021|

How does one feel the day and night before their first chemo procedure?  I can only tell you what I am feeling.  I am not a nervous person, but for some reason, all day today (Sunday) I was feeling quite nervous and shaky.  Believe me, this was all subconscious as I am not consciously thinking about my treatment.  I didn’t sleep very well last night.  Today I slept for 2 1/5 hours during the day and, in fact, thought it was morning when I awoke.  And I did feel better and less shaky after that beautiful nap.  So, maybe I […]

It’s a Holiday Season

By |2020-12-29T20:07:51-05:00December 29th, 2020|

We made it through Christmas and it is only a couple of days until the new year. Everyone I speak to cannot wait until this year ends. We are on a new path with the new vaccine for the Corona virus. Hopefully, we can see the end of the tunnel for the virus, sometime next year. And a big ending is the presidency of the worst president in modern times, donald trump. Next week Congress is supposed to finalize the last step in the Electoral College election of Joe Biden. And, of course, the little man in the White House […]

Happy days are here again

By |2020-12-14T14:13:58-05:00December 14th, 2020|

It is Hanukkah now and Christmas will be here next week. You can feel the holiday spirit in the air. It is a hopeful time. And a time when everyone is looking forward to the new year to celebrate 2021. We want to put away this year of 2020. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the election as president and vice president and Donald Trump has decided he will not concede. Every day since the election, he and his henchmen attorneys have filed suits all over the country to turn over the results of the election.

This is or should be […]
