Well, this is the day. I have an appointment with the Oncologist Hematologist who will share the results with me of the tests that he had ordered; blood tests, Echocardiogram, Cat Scan and Pet scan. I think i will have a cup of calming tea and a little CBD before I meet with him. Once I know the results, I will decide about treatment. I’ll share the results of the tests with you and we both will know
In the meantime, I have a question for you. Have you ever had a Cat Scan or an MRI? I thought they were both similar. Well, they are inasmuch as the tunnel your body goes through on the table is similar. But the MRI has a noise, as I have said before, that sounds like a bulldozer or a jackhammer cracking cement. And the last time I had it, I found the music on the earphones that they give you, was almost, I mean almost as annoying.
Anyway, there is an entire process associated with the Cat Scan and the Pet Scan. I was placed in a room where, Alex, the technician inserted an IV needle into my arm. Later they would attach the IV which will receive the dye needed for one test and the iodine for another test. Then I was covered with a blanket and told to rest for an hour. During that time I was to consume two bottles of water which had a little of the dye in it. Even though there was no TV in the room where I was to rest quietly, the time went by quickly as it took a rather long time to consume the two bottles of water. Now I forgot to mention that the room temperature was set to “cold”. And brrr, it was cold. Luckily, I was informed before I arrived to dress appropriately for the northern snow storm temperature. In addition to my winter sweats, I wrapped myself in my favorite black cuddly knee length sweater.
When the hour was up, I was taken into the room for the tests. I was told, after I was on the bed, to place my arms above my head for the Pet Scan which covers the entire body. Two pillows were placed under my arms and since I was lying down, it was bearable. And it lasted only 16 minutes. I only describe this procedure in case any of you are planning to take some of these same tests. I think it helps to have information so there are fewer surprises.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Well, I am back home from my doctor’s appointment. I don’t know what I expected, but being the eternal optimist that I am, I didn’t expect to hear what I heard. I have two lymph nodes; one in my armpit and one in my groin. The initial treatment the doctor recommend is initially an anti-bodies protein treatment. After that, another test to see if there are any changes and how I tolerated the test. And after that he is recommending chemotherapy as radiation in my case does not apply.
So now that I have heard the results of all the tests, I have a decision to make. I am going to reach out to my friends in the natural healing community, nurses that I know and my primary doctor as well. I will also speak to friends who have gone through chemotherapy.
The doctor has not treated anyone my age but he thinks it is an easy condition to treat. On the other hand, at my age, I don’t want to compromise my immune system. So I will continue to look for guidance. I imagine I shall come to a decision within the next week or two and will keep you informed.
