I haven’t written for a few days as I wanted to wait until my appointment with the Oncologist.  Well, I just came home from my first appointment, and although I try to stay in a zen mode, to put it mildly, I am not in a zen mode.  I’m not sure what mood I am in.  The doctor seems very nice and informed and gave me a lot of information.  Maybe TMI.  Anyway, I like his first plan which is to get a second opinion of the biopsy which showed, in his opinion, Hodgkins Lymphoma.

He is setting up a series of tests before we decide which direction to take.  First is a complete new CAT scan to see if there are any other nodules.  Then a complete new blood test.  After that an Echocardiogram because, get this, of my age.  Although he has treated many patients of all ages successfully, he hasn’t treated one as old as I am. Now I want you to know, I feel fine and am not in any pain.  Do you think I will feel pain all of a sudden after all these tests?

Well, this is the way of western medicine.  I am willing to take these tests as part of research for my decision of treatment.  He is already talking chemotherapy or immunotherapy.  And said that they have great anti-nausea treatments today.  Oh goody.  I should have all these tests completed by next Friday when I have another appointment with the doctor.

In the meantime, I have been watching the Democratic Convention which is staged virtually.  What a difference from previous conventions, when they had screaming delegates in funny hats and noisemakers showing on TV.  I agree with many of my relatives and friends, this way is a much more intimate way and one can really take in their messages on a deeper level.  I felt it was compelling when they showed each delegate in their individual state announcing their number of votes for either Joe Biden or Bernie Sanders.  What a wonderful opportunity to see the beauty of this country and hear the different accents spoken around this great country of ours.

We have heard eloquent passionate speeches by Michelle Obama, Andrew Cuomo, Jill Biden, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, etc. etc. etc.  But especially inspiring were the words of Barack Obama and Kamala Harris who is the Democratic nominee for Vice President of the United States.  Tonight we will hear from Joe Biden as  he is the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.

I will watch the Republican Convention next week but am not sure if their stable of speakers will be as well known or as well spoken as the above.  We need a vision of hope for the future.  I am open to listen to the republicans for this message.
