Yesterday I had a new and wonderful experience called ZOOM.  If there is one good thing coming out of this devastating Coved 19, it is having the experience of taking classes, participating in  workshops and, most importantly, reconnecting with old and new friends all around the world.  I believe Zoom has opened up  an entirely new way of communicating, which at times were difficult.  I find it more rewarding than texting, speaking on the telephone, using social media, or even emailing.  By being able to see and almost touch each other, it feels like a personal visit; and I have discovered a great  feeling of being alive and being in a celebratory mood of seeing friends, family, colleagues and teachers.

Yesterday at 4:00pm, I zoomed (love that word) honoring Michio Kushi who was the American leader and teacher extraordinaire of Macrobiotics in the United States. It was the anniversary of his birthday and former teachers and friends shared wonderful stories about him.  This is an annual Event, so seeing new people and old friends was most satisfying and it was a great way to spend the afternoon.  We studied macrobiotics together which stands for macro- large biotic-life or longevity.  It is a plant based diet of fresh vegetables, grains, beans, seaweed which when cooked delivers wonderfully tasty food. Over the years, it has also been a healing diet for many people around the world.

There are many cookbooks available and many qualified teachers to help with one’s healing.   Some of the teachers who are my friends are in their late 80’s and 90’s.  They are vibrant, healthy, fun loving people who enjoy singing a song every day!

At 7:00pm last evening, I joined a reunion of men and women from the old neighborhood.  It was great!  They were friends of my children, Melinda and Paul.  And I was friendly with many of their parents.  So I called these men and women who are in their 60’s, the “kids”.   I loved hearing their stories, news of their professions and married and divorced status and. hard to believe, hearing some of their retirement news.  After all, in my eyes, they were just kids like mine.

I am not going to be maudlin and say “where did the time go” but relish in my new and exciting activities such as ZOOMING!
